Nextcloud
As a cloud service provider for data storage
Is there a benefit to using NextCloud? What is the benefit over using a regular cloud service provider like Google Docs? Nextcloud will be more expensive, and the VPS provider will still have access to our data.
Big difference: Google is analyzing your workflow, sharing patterns, usage, etc. may not be mining your data, but that’s a distant second to understanding how workers engage with the products and platform. While a hosting service does have access to any unencrypted data on their network, they’re not in the business of analyzing that usage data, nor are they likely to be mining the data itself (I’m fairly certain that Linode probably reserves rights to get your data if asked by law enforcement, but I’m not sure about that).
The advantage of using a cloud computing provider: uptime and network configuration.
